Welcome to my blog!

Chrono Trigger (1995)
Welcome, welcome! Come on in, feel free to warm yourself by the fire, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Alonso, a game producer.
Many smart people have said many times that writing and posting regularly is a good thing to do, and while it’s something I took a stab at a while ago, I decided that 2026 was finally the year I’d actually start a blog I’d commit to posting regularly on.
With that in mind, the best way to start this blog is with a post introducing myself and giving you, dear reader, an idea of what to expect from this blog. So, without further ado…
Who are you?
If you were paying attention a couple of paragraphs ago, you probably caught that my name is Alonso, and that I’m a producer in the videogames (video games?) industry.
Although I was born in California, USA, I grew up in Santiago, Chile. I’ve been passionate about games from the first time I booted up Kingdom Hearts on a PS2 (the opening is still an absolute banger after all these years), and have spent my days tinkering with game development programs ever since.
In college, I decided to study computer science, but spent most of my time helping out at my college’s local game development club. In-between organizing workshops, talks and game jams, I met two awesome friends with whom I co-founded Smarto Club, an indie studio developing friendly games with beautiful art.
Since then, I’ve worked from concept-to-release on commercial indie titles that have shipped on PC, console and mobile such as Teacup and Bubblegum Galaxy, as well as smaller (yet still very cool!) titles such as Rental and The Monad. In-between all that, I also went and did the graduate game design program at the NYU Game Center where I met lots of talented people and made experimental games like Changelog.
I’m a fan of games with deep systems, cool worlds to explore, memorable characters and narrative. I’m usually switching up between playing nice, bite-sized indies like Mixtape, Despelote or Titanium Court (ok maybe that last one isn't as bite-sized) and massive RPG/JRPGs like Final Fantasy XVI, Metaphor: ReFantazio and Cyberpunk 2077.
What will you write about?
As you might guess from the title… I want to talk about game production and project management!
There’s a ton I’ve learned from reading books and articles, watching talks and having conversations with people, but all this information exists only in my head and I want to put it down somewhere more permanent that I can share with people. While most posts will talk about game production in general terms, I also want to share the different ideas and thoughts I’ve had while working as producer on specific projects.
But I don’t want to be too strict, and emphasize that this will be a personal blog — and I have more to talk about than game production! I’m working on some fun game related side-projects and am looking forward to writing about the process of developing them here. My other goal for 2026 is to finish more games while playing them with a more analytical eye, so you might also catch my ramblings analysis of different games I’ve played.
One of my main struggles when writing is that I’m a bit of a perfectionist. The first time I wrote an article for Gamasutra (remember that?) I spent about 2 months writing and revising it… but one of my priorities for this blog is to embrace continuous practice and repetition instead of perfection (the classic many pots v.s. one pot story), so I’m aiming to keep it simple and write short weekly posts instead of agonizing over anything longer.
Part of keeping it simple also meant picking a no-nonsense platform for blogging, and in that regard I’m super happy to have found Bear.
And well.. I think that’s all you need for now to have a clear idea of what to expect. Thanks for coming! It was great to have you here and would love to see you again. If short and weekly insights sounds like your jam, I’d be honored if you subscribed:
Until next week!
